13 Family

Your family loves you. The older I have gotten, the more my sense of family has expanded, and the more I have come to realize the degree to which family matters. I don’t know your specific situation, I don’t know exactly what is going on in your life or what your relationship with your family is. But I know your family cares about you a lot and wants you to be there.  

There are a lot of good reasons to go to church, a large number of what I talk about in this book are all reasons to go to church, but I put forth an argument of going to church that has nothing to do with religion at all. It’s family. Our communities and our people are hurting, you might be one of those people who are hurting deeply. I have seen so many people desperately searching for someone to care for, and I think I can see an answer.

The wonderful thing about family is that they aren’t perfect, but in that imperfection, they are still there for you. You know you have found a good church when you are willing, and the people around you are willing to drop everything to be there for one another. A lot of people are extremely lucky and are given a wonderful family from the moment they are born. If that is not your situation, please don’t give up on finding a family. There are people out there, whose hearts have a space that would fit you perfectly. Your family loves you, your family wants you, and they still need you.
