27 THE USA (just the country itself. . .)

This is the first and last time I will mention politics directly in this book, and even now, it is simply to say, I am not aware of the current political climate of the world when this book should be published, but I hope it is better than when I am writing this.

The United States of America is one of the most beautiful countries on the planet. In the deserts of Moab Utah, the red rocks tower high above the valleys and rivers cutting through the landscape, the lack of light allows the stars to cut through in ways that are extraordinary. The desert creates silence that is so often rare.

To the North, hugging the coast line the cascade mountain range slams into the seas. From the edge of the coast line, and into the sea grows pines that scrape the sky. Mists that make you understand the rumors of bigfoot because there are forests that feel so vast you could get lost for a lifetime.

To the east are the great planes, they seem to stretch out forever. The sky seems to almost be swallowing the earth. The people are polite, and the food reminds you of a place that feels like home that you’ve never been to. Crawling up along the Atlantic ocean are cities that paint the nights with lights and colors, the centers of art and of culture. The places where some of the greatest music, art, plays, and books ever written were born, America, despite its faults, is a beautiful place.
